On arrival we were promptly taken straight to the top level for check in. Check in was swift, and we were able to pay the security deposit for the room in Australian dollars in cash which was a nice touch.
The club lounge area is quite small giving it an exclusive feel, and it’s very tastefully decorated a quite modern. There aren’t many tables which could make things a little difficult with lots of solo travelers. A boardroom and public use PCs were available.
Once checked in, the club experience offers afternoon tea from 2-4pm. This features soft drinks, juices, tea, and a range of coffee making options. To go with this, there was a small selection of afternoon tea snack items- muffins, sandwiches and some pastries to name a few.
The club was a great place to relax during the day and was kept reasonably exclusive. The internal walls meant you could have some privacy being seated in the corner.
At 6pm until 8pm, the evening drinks and canapes commenced. The same beverages were served as at afternoon tea along with a selection of wines, beers and spirits. No champagne was available. The lounge had two staff and they were on hand to help with serving drinks and offering table service as required.
The customer service was outstanding with the staff taking the time to get to know the guests. We also met some great people in the lounge who were fellow guests, which was reflective of the atmosphere created.
For the breakfast, guests now have the option of either a light continental style breakfast in the lounge, or, as we did, the full breakfast buffet downstairs like the other hotel guests. We can’t comment on the lounge breakfast, but adding the full breakfast as a complimentary offering is a great package bonus and a good incentive to try the Premier Floor lounge. The breakfast downstairs had a large range of hot dishes, fruit, pastries, cereals, yogurts and more, complimented by tea and coffee.
The club floors didn’t seem any different in terms of rooms, but a turndown service was offered. Also, free wifi is included for club floor guests. We got late check out until 2pm which was a nice touch, then after this time, we were invited to remain in the club lounge until we had to leave for our evening flight which was a real bonus. The only downside was a lack of powerpoints (universal) in the club lounge area for doing some work during this time.
Check-in/out: Shown to club floor by staff, easy and hastle free, except that they don’t keep foreign cash deposit envelopes in the club, so we needed to go downstairs to checkout.
Snacks during the day: We weren’t aware of any snacks outside afternoon tea, but afternoon tea was a nice offering. The quality coffee machines are a good addition. Overall, around what we’d expect on other club floors.
Evening drinks: Champagne would be a nice touch and there was a lack of cocktails, but otherwise good. Around average.
Evening canapés: The available food was good, but not much of a selection placing it slightly below average. Although average is still a high standard.
Breakfast: The full breakfast was excellent and probably one of the best club breakfasts out there, mainly because it was complimentary for breakfast in the full restaurant.
Bonus services: Free WiFi excellent, turndown service was good. We assume the boardroom and PCs would also be a good feature for business travellers.
Exclusivity: One of the smallest lounges we’ve been to which gives a feeling of exclusivity. Sometimes crowded during peak times though.
Service staff: Friendly enough and helpful. No complaints here.
For the price, the value delivered was great and we would certainly stay here on the club floors in the future.
