Every restaurant has off days, but they are few and far between at the Mahogany Room Restaurant, which is one of the best in Melbourne. The Mahogany Room Restaurant is located inside the Mahogany Room at Crown Casino Melbourne making it a member’s only venue.
The restaurant itself is an architectural masterpiece with every surface featuring some type of elaborate decoration- from the marble tables to the equine-motif walls to the elaborate vases positioned throughout. The utensils and crockery used are the highest standard carefully balancing a modern dining experience with a traditional setting.
Inside a Crown Towers Executive Club Suite
The restaurant is open 24/7, and has two menus accordingly.
The full menu is offered during lunch (12-3pm) and dinner (6pm-1am), while outside those hours, the lounge menu presents an array of snacks and lighter meals. The full menu has a full range of eastern and western dishes, with entrees priced at an average of $15-$30 (such as quail) and mains at $30-$50 (such as steaks and seafood), including a wagyu steak at $170. Desserts are offered at anywhere from $15-$35 (such as the Mahogany Cheese Selection or Mövenpick Icecream). The lounge menu is a more moderate offering, with mains at $15-$40 but offering meals more simple in nature such as the Club Sandwich and Mahogany Caesar Salad.
Alcoholic beverages are now at bar prices after a major cutback in July 2012, but non-alcoholic beverages are complimentary for members. This includes soft drinks, juices, teas, energy drinks and barista coffee. The waters used are premium – no tap water in sight with Acqua Panna as the still water and San Pellegrino as the sparkling type. The staff in the restaurant are generally friendly and attentive, offering regular drink top-ups and minimal wait times on meals.
At the start of the meal one can enjoy quality fresh bread with a selection of dips, butter or dukkah spices and olive oil, then with the coffee at the end of the meal, a signature branded Mahogany Room chocolate is offered. The restaurant can get busy during the weekend evenings, but in general it’s lightly patronised, giving it an air of exclusivity, while the whole restaurant is relatively small providing an intimate feel.
We highly recommend the Mahogany Room Restaurant as one of the finest dining options in Melbourne with faultless service and quality food.
